About CIED

Entrepreneurship is one of the critical tools to transform an economy and take a country to a path of progress. Governments all over the world are paying considerable attention to it. The Indian government has also taken many steps and launched many schemes to encourage it.

But the hindrance in this is the risk-averse mind set of people and the belief that business is only for certain community of people. To overcome these issues, education can play a crucial role. Few educational institutions have taken it up as their responsibility. Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development or CIED is one of such endeavor.

CIED is an initiative of Birla Institute of Management Technology. Taking a clue from it’s vision to create a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation and to prepare business leaders and entrepreneurs for an inclusive and sustainable society, this has been launch in 2010.

The center comprises of faculty, with strong inclination & vast experience in mentoring and promoting entrepreneurship. Few of them have their own ventures. Some of faculty also has ventures with students. The center also supports & guides a students’ body called ‘Entrepreneurship Cell’ or ‘E-cell’.

Vision – “To influence, inspire and motivate millions of students across the country the Centre is firming up its proposal under various schemes of the Government of India.”

Objective – “To develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem to nurture students, alumni, faculty and the surrounding community”.

We will help you to participate in and contribute to the process of being an integral part of the Indian Growth Story.

• Conducted two week residential Faculty Development Programme on Entrepreneurship supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), GoI from 13th Dec’10 to 25th Dec’10.
• Conducted six days residential Faculty Development programme on 'Innovation & Technology Strategy', supported by Strategic Management Forum (SMF), in which fifteen participants from B-schools all over the country participated.
