PGDM - International Business

Pedagogy:
The pedagogy adopted by IB course is such designed that it includes academic seriousness and practical application. The class room teaching includes sessions by the strong force of faculty who are known for their dedication for teaching and research, and long industry experience with close ties to national and international academic and business community. The practical application part is taken care of by the case studies and  projects at different stages of the two year program, with close interaction with industry, give students a first hand experience of corporate world. The students are also subjected to simulation games, quizzes, role plays, etc to develop analytical and decision making capabilities.
As a part of the academic activity, CIBP conducts various workshops, guest lectures, panel discussions and seminars for its students. Experts from all the fields of the industry have visited the institute and offered their valuable insight and opinions on current and pertinent topics In order to supplement the various theories acquired in the classroom by the students for a simultaneous understanding and application, students are taken to the national as well as international ports, visit to industries in India and abroad and short- term projects in corporate / industries. 
To add practical learning, summer projects are kept for 60 days, after completion of Third Trimester which forms an integral part of their learning as students interact with industry and work on live projects. Similarly, there is Winter Projects in VI trimester where a dissertation is undertaken by student under the guidance of faculty. 
Students actively participate in various activities organized by the Institutes’ Clubs including Debating Society, Cultural Club, E-Cell (Entrepreneurs’ Cell) etc., besides sending them to participate in seminars and conferences’ organized outside BIMTECH enabling them to acquire relevant knowledge about the market and management issues through interactions with the industry.

Salient Features of Pedagogy

Pre-Course Reading Material
Pre-course reading materials which are in the form of text books, cases, articles etc. is made available to all participants in advance. Participants are expected to spend 8 to 10 hours per week studying these materials before they come for classes each term. Online assessments are also incorporated in the program to ensure academic rigor.

Lectures
Lectures one of the best teaching methods in many circumstances for most of the students; especially for communicating conceptual knowledge are used as an important pedagogy tool. Faculties use audio-visual teaching aids like OHP, overhead LCD projection systems, etc. to enhance the learning among students.

Industry Speakers/Visits
An integral part of the PGDM (IB) is the speaker series and visits that are regularly organized throughout the course.  Talks by industry leaders and visits to various industries in India and other countries during the program are organized to complements classroom learning and bring in a practical perspective to management theories.

Simulations
Simulations which help maximize classroom learning as the decisions that the participants face in these simulations replicate the kind of decisions they would face in their own organizations are used as an important tool.

Case Method
Case studies intend to detail different solutions scenarios with quantitative results. Our students’ reactivity in facing innovative managerial issues and their risk-taking behaviors are encouraged. Students’ opinions are shared and confronted; the decision-making process is practically apprehended.

Role Play
Role playing is a method for exploring the issues involved in complex business situations. The objective of introducing the role play is that to teach students to think Role playing gives students a chance to live the roles and practice the concepts before hand. Spirit of innovation, achievement and intellectual group of students work together with commitment towards global excellence is all about BIMTECH way of learning.

Seminars and Workshops
Seminars/workshops introduce state-of-the-art ideas and easy-to-learn techniques that assist students to accelerate their individual growth both professionally and individually. Seminar improves student's presentation skills whether they are persuading, educating, or informing. These highly interactive workshops are frequently conducted. Students also undergo the seminars which are highly participatory and personalized workshops of its kind.

Comprehensive Viva-Voce
At the end of I, II and III term comprehensive viva-voce is conducted to test the knowledge of candidate in totality, linkages of concepts of different areas and their practical application.
