Programme Highlights

1) Global Classroom

More than 17 of the leading universities across the globe are a part of the Global network programme. This is a web class room, and has been designed for students and teachers to share their knowledge and best practices. The network brings together 20 leading experts from around the world to address global issues on sustainable development. BIMTECH SDP students are part of this network since its inception year 2010, and they share all the course materials, readings, videos, and assignments with their fellow programme students across the 22 universities.

2) Immersion Programme

At the commencement of the session, the one-week immersion programme is a first-hand experience for students on field to understand complex issues and challenges of sustainable development. This is a field visit cum class room training at TARAgram, Orchha, Madhya Pradesh in association with Development Alternatives (DA).

3) Grameen Creative Lab

The institute is also in the process to sign 'MoU' with Grameen Creative Lab. This has been an initiative taken by Noble Laureate Prof. Mohammed Yunus to establish lab as an incubator to promote the idea of social business. This opportunity has already opened a door for internship for SDP student with Grameen Lab, Bangladesh; along with this, it will also provide opportunity to be a part of global movement for social business. BIMTECH is second after IIM Ahmedabad to be associated with the lab. .

4) Students' Exchange Programme

The institute is having strong tie-up with around 50 international universities across the continents. The objective is to foster international scholarships, student exchange programme, business plan competition, conferences, and internships. The programme has exchanged students from several countries. During this year, 'India Study program' has also started under which several foreign students have also joined the porgramme to have classroom training on sustainable development.

5) Case Based Projects

Students are engaged in developing the small projects which can be used as small caselets for academic learning. The projects are designed on real problems of a particular domain or multiple domain which are directed to find a models offering solution or convenience of achievement of end results.

6) Participation in Conferences:

The zeal to learn, understand and exchange ideas with experts helps students in formulating their perspectives towards different issues of sustainability. In order to fulfill this purpose, students of SDP Programme have been attending conferences and seminars. The students are nominated through a selection process in various seminars. The learnings on practices and meeting people is a great experience by students.

7) Action based Projects
During the course of two years, the department offers various opportunities in collaboration with various development organizations in the area of CSR, Health, Education, and Energy to understand real life problems and are motivated and trained to find solutions.
  a) Prepared a plan to run a CSR activity at Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL).
  b) Introduce cost-effective technique for good health - hand-washing, and implemented the same at Father Agnel School at Greater Noida. .
  c) Training for Access Development Services, a organization based in New Delhi.
8) Guest Lecture Series

In order to support and enrich the programme, various guest lectures are organized on different topics so as to give the students an all-round knowledge of the subject. The lectures are delivered by experts from the Ministries of state and union government, Corporate sector, Development Agencies, research bodies and other institutes of repute.     Student's Achievements
    International Scholarships:

    The department provides platform and encourages students to participate in various academic and corporate activities. This year one of the SDP students was awarded Prudential Scholarship to pursue four-months Global Citizens Programme in Washington D.C, United States. This scholarship has selected 26 bright students from India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

    UN Online Volunteer Programme:

    SDP students are also actively involved in United Nations Online Volunteer Programme. The programme is administered by United Nation Development Program (UNDP) and Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM), an organization based at Cameroon, West Africa. Under this programme, students provide solutions to real life development problems. The initiatives of the students have been rewarded with certificates from United Nation Volunteer, and also an invitation to attend training sessions on project implementation.

    Paper Presentations:
    The SDP department’s objective is to create knowledge and enhance capacity building. During this process, it encourages students to write research papers, and to present them at various national and international conferences. During the last year, SDP students presented their papers in the following conferences:
