Mr.Ashwini Saxena is well versed with the ongoing trends of Corporate Sustainability, IFC’s Sustainability/CSR tools, UN tools for Economic & Livelihoods Promotion, Participatory Planning techniques, various M&E frameworks, inclusive business strategies, Project Management Essentials by PMI (USA), policy reform & investment promotion advisory tools of World Bank, stakeholder management and community engagement techniques.

Peter Holbrook

Mr.Peter Holbrook

Mr.Peter Holbrook is the Chief Executive Officer of Social Enterprise UK. Peter is hungry for social justice and believes that social enterprise provides one of our very best hopes. He’s passionate about communities creating change through innovation.

Prior to joining Social Enterprise UK, Peter was founding CEO of Sunlight Development Trust, a social enterprise that delivers a wide range of integrated community services, including youth engagement, health services, parenting support and support for the elderly. To support these initiatives he established a network of award winning social enterprises including event catering, community radio, property management and digital media services.

Nikhil Agarwal

Dr.Nikhil Agarwal

Dr.Nikhil Agarwal is currently serving as CEO, Innovation Society, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The role of the innovation society is to kickstart the innovation agenda and promote entrepreneurship in the sunrise state of India. Dr Agarwal has founded businesses and advised firms on strategic matters in last 19 years of his career. He has worked with global multinationals like Cadbury’s and Zensar (RPG Group).

He has served as high-level-advisor to United Nations Global Alliance on ICT & Development (UNGAID) between 2008-12; board member at World-Entrepreneurship-Forum and Open Mind Foundation respectively. He was the first Asian to be elected as Co-Chair of prestigious Internet Society Advisory Council (ISOC-AC) for 2008-10.

Mr.Shalab Mittal is the CEO of School for Social Entrepreneurs India. Mr.Shalab Mittal has fifteen years of multi-sectoral experience in health, livelihoods, water, sanitation and social entrepreneurship. Facilitated start-up social enterprises among women affected by HIV/AIDS.

Expert in project management, idea generation, project conceptualization and project implementation. Led several studies & projects for various international development organizations, such as World Bank & FAO at the UN. Coordinated Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Development Studies at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India and was heading the Institute’s Centre for Social Entrepreneurship & CSR. Founding Member of Aashray – Promotion of Social Enterprises Foundation, a GoI approved Techno-Social Business Incubator.

Ms.Sujata Sahu is the Founder Director of 17000 ft Foundation. A Corporate IT Professional by training, an educator by chance, a trekker by heart and a passionate advocate of empowerment of children. Ms.Sujata quit the corporate world to nurture a dream that she had been nursing since a solo trek into Ladakh, in the Himalayas.

Founded 17000 ft Foundation, a not for profit that is dedicated to go to the remotest villages of Ladakh, in areas that are ignored and forgotten and help build an eco system of growth and opportunity, for its children and its people. 17000 ft works in over 100 village schools today, to improve education, create opportunities and transform lives.

Siddhartha Shankar

Mr.Siddhartha Shankar is the CEO of Drishtee. Siddhartha has an extensive professional experience of more than 20 years. He completed his MBA and engineering degrees from University of Delhi. He was also a Chevening Scholar and attended the Leeds University Management School, UK. Drishtee is a social enterprise focused on rural development and working with communities, usually through entrepreneurs.

Drishtee has been creating for the communities and its entrepreneurs sustainable business models that create economic advantages and livelihood opportunities. It has created one of the largest Rural Supply Chains in India comprising of linked entrepreneurs who provide daily use products, vocational training, rural banking and health services. It is engaged in linking various entrepreneurs into an integrated Model Village network

Prof Avanish Kumar

Dr.Avanish Kumar

Dr.Avanish Kumar is the Area Chairperson – Public Policy & Management in Management Development Institute ( MDI), Gurgaon. Before Dr. Kumar joined School of Public Policy and Governance at MDI¸ he taught Challenges for sustainable development¸ cultural ecology and development¸ social impact assessment and qualitative research methodology¸ at TERI School¸ New Delhi. Dr. Kumar has also worked as an Anthropologist in Development Alternatives¸ New Delhi¸ Social Development Consultant to IPE¸ Enterprise London School of Economics¸ New Delhi and as a Researcher in Center for Development Economics¸ Delhi School of Economics¸ New Delhi. He has publications in edited books and journals on health and Inequality¸ medical pluralism¸ social impact assessment¸ rural development and food security.

As a consultant¸ he has worked for DFID¸ UNEP¸ UNDP¸ WFP¸ SDC¸ Earth Council¸ The World Bank¸ The Netherlands¸ and Govt. of India. As part of the core team¸ he was responsible for planning¸ implementation and management of DFID-Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme for more than 500 Civil Society Organizations working in the 100 poorest districts of India on issues related to social cohesion¸ local self governance¸ women’s empowerment and self help. He was also responsible for developing Process Monitoring System for Tribal Development program of World Food Programme¸ being implemented in Orissa¸ Rajasthan¸ Uttar Pradesh¸ Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. At grassroots¸ he possesses intensive field experience of working with the nomadic community¸ schedule tribes and in multi-caste villages in UP¸ Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. At regional level¸ he has assessed Capacity 21 Support to Countries of Asia Pacific Region (UNDP) and Multi-Stakeholder Assessment of Agenda 21 Implementation Strategy of India and State of Environment –South Asia.

Dr.Madhukar Shukla

Dr.Madhukar Shukla

Dr.Madhukar Shukla is a professor of Organizational Behavior at the Xavier Institute of Management (XLRI). He has a keen research and teaching interest in social entrepreneurship and is also the Chairperson of Fr Arrupe Centre for Ecology & Sustainability.

He has served as a member of the Advisory Council of University Network for Social Entrepreneurship (founded by Ashoka: Innovators for the Public and Skoll Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Oxford University), and is also a Member of, Livelihood India Advisory Board. He has served on the Jury for the Microfinance Award ’07, instituted by PlaNet Finance, and was a lead assessor for the India NGO Awards 2007, 2008 & 2009. He is the Conference Coordinator for the National Conference on Social Entrepreneurship, an annual national conference since 2009.

Kalyan Paul

Mr.Kalyan Paul is the founding executive director of the Pan Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation in Uttarakhand, an organization that carries out holistic mountain development activities through community participation in the central and western Himalaya. Mr. Paul’s works include implementing direct applications of appropriate technologies such as drinking water systems and infiltration wells, catchment area treatment, rainwater harvesting, and land use optimization. Mr. Paul holds an M.A. in economics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science and in social work from Delhi Univesity. He is a fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar Session 404, The Politics of Water Addressing Fresh Water Scarcity, in 2002; and Session 444, New Century, New Challenges, New Dilemmas: The Global Nexus of Animal and Public Health, in 2007.

Irfan Alam

Mr.Irfan Alam

Irfan Alam is the Founder and Chairman of SammaaN Foundation, India’s largest company working towards organizing the rickshaw pulling and manufacturing sector, empowering rickshaw operators and their families to become self reliant and responsible citizens. He is also the founder of SammaaN Women Association, which aims to empower socially descendant women through education, training and livelihood opportunities. He has also founded MATiNS Enterprise, which specializes in interactive outdoor advertising, marketing and portfolio (wealth) management.

Irfan had been invited for Presidential Summit, 2010 at Washington by the US President Barack Obama. He is the winner of Business World’s “Most Promising Entrepreneur Award.” He has been selected among “40 Youth icons of India” by India Today, “24 Youth icons of India” by India Today Aspire and “India’s Best 30 Youths” by The Times of India. Featured in the The Guardian, London and The Economist, he is a finalist of TATA NEN “Hottest Startups Awards” and winner of World Bank Innovation Award. His case has been shared in the major universities across the globe. Irfan was selected as an Ashoka Fellow in 2010.



Mr.Kaushlendra, an MBA graduate of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), is a Cochran Fellow 2012 of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA ) & working group member of National Institute of Hydrology (Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India), is a social entrepreneur and is the founder of Kaushalya Foundation (KF) & KNIDS GREEN (KG) and promoter of brand Samriddhii, MBA Sabziwala. He is an Ashoka Fellow & is included in the list of 25 future heroes of India, published by India Today. He is appointed as Founding Curator for the Patna Hub of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper Community in 2013.

He is awarded with Amazing Indians Grassroot Soldiers Award 2012 by Times Now. His entrepreneurial venture is awarded Sankalp Award 2011 by Intellecap. His organization is also awarded Wantraprneur 2010 by Villgro & The Lemelson Foundation. He is also included in the list of 50 social entrepreneurship of India, published by Outlook Business. He has been selected as social entrepreneur of the year by and sun microsystem in 2009.

Ramesh Ramanathan

Mr. Ramesh Ramanathan founded Janalakshmi Social Services Private Limited. Mr. Ramanathan serves as a National Technical Advisor of Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM), Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India; Principal Advisor, Government of Rajasthan, State Urban Agenda for Rajasthan (SUARAJ); Advisor to the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka in its interactions with the 12th Finance Commission, and for the drafting of the Local Fund Fiscal Responsibility Act (LFFRA) in Karnataka. Mr. Ramanathan served as Management Director, Head of North American Equity Derivatives and European Head of Corporate Derivatives at Citibank North America. Mr. Ramanathan was a Member of the Global Markets Leadership Team collectively running a business with an annual turnover of over $ 1 billion.

Mr. Ramanathan co-founded Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy. He serves as the Chairman of Janalakshmi Financial Services Limited, working in the area of urban microfinance. He serves as Chairman of Janadhar Constructions Private Limited. Mr. Ramanathan serves as Vice-Chairman of Sanghamithra Rural Financial Services. He has been an Non-Executive and Independent Director of MindTree Limited since May 2, 2012. He also co-authored a book titled, “Urban Poverty Alleviation in India”, 2003. Mr. He was nominated as one of the 250 “Young Global Leaders, 2007” by the World Economic Forum. He is a Certified Financial Analyst from the Association of Investment Management & Research (AIMR). Mr. Ramanathan has an M.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from BITS, Pilani and an MBA degree from Yale University.

Anshu Gupta , Goonj

Mr.Anshu Gupta

Popularly known as the Clothing Man, Mr. Anshu Gupta has done his Mass communications twice and masters in Economics. Starting as a freelance journalist, Mr.Anshu left a corporate job in 1998 and founded GOONJ with a mission to make clothing a matter of concern and to bring it among the list of subjects for the development sector. An Ashoka Fellow and the Global Ambassador of Ashoka, Mr.Anshu is creating a mass movement for recycling and reuse of tones of waste material by channelising it from the cities to the villages, as a resource for rural development. A powerful and inspiring speaker, Mr.Anshu addresses many national and international forums to bring clothing on the development agenda and to motivate the youth to take action. He is a regular speaker in many parts of the world on innovation, leadership, village development, power of youths and social entrepreneurship.

Sanjay Singh, Sewa

Mr.Sanjay Kumar

Mr.Sanjay Kumar is currently a Ford Foundation Mason Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and pursuing a Masters degree in Public Administration. A doctorate in Microfinance Interventions among Women Workers, he has honed his keen interest in the area of women’s empowerment. Alongside, he also holds an exhaustive PG diploma in ’Social Security for the Poor’.

Associated with Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) movement for the last 15 years, he has spearheaded many a programs and has ensured expansion of SEWA’s work in 9 diverse states. As the Director of SEWA Bharat, which is a federation of SEWA member organizations, he devises organizing strategies for women in the informal sector and formulates advocacies for urban and rural livelihoods and better living conditions. He has authored varying papers for the Indian Government and publications alike. As a keen photographer, his inspiring images on the lives of women workers in India was exhibited at the House of Commons, London. Donning many hats, he is committed towards empowerment of women and advocating towards improving the governance, which could be inclusive and beneficial for the poor.
