Home Dance Floor: Virtual Alumni Dance Competition

Virtual Zumba Session

25th Oct. 2020

Zoom Platform

The Alumni conduit of BIMTECH organised a Zumba session, exclusively for the alumni and their families. It was a one hour session from 9AM to 10AM, which was a whole package right from basic warm-up moves to the most energetic songs and steps. We collaborated with Aaranya Wellness Pvt. Ltd and its Zumba trainer Mr. Sonu Kumar, who has around 8 years of experience in Zumba teaching and has worked with Gold’s Gym, Tensen dance classes and numerous other societies.

There were around 25 alumni and their families who participated in the event and started their Sunday morning with full zest and mental relaxation. All the songs and steps taught by Mr. Sonu were such that they forced everyone to get off their beds and start dancing. The benefits of Zumba as mentioned by the trainer during the session were:

  • It improves blood pressure and reduces cholesterol.
  • It improves cardiovascular fitness.
  • It helps in losing a lot of weight.
  • It also makes us stress free by reducing anxiety and depression.

It is rightly said that “Fitness starts from our minds, as our body won’t go where our mind won’t lead”. This Zumba session proved to be a stress buster for all the participants and the conduit eagerly looks forward to more innovative collaborations in the coming times.

The home Dance floor was the event that was thought of as a platform for the alumni to showcase their talent in this lockdown situation. Since all are going through a very monotonous lifestyle these days. People are tirelessly working from home without any source of entertainment. There was tremendous support from our Director H Chaturvedi and Prof Gagan Katiyar - the head of Alumni conduit for executing this idea of Home Dance Floor event.
