Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) Strengthens AI Innovation Ecosystem with Centre of Excellence & Innovathon 2026!

On August 19, 2026, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) inaugurated its Centre of Excellence on AI, marking an important step in strengthening the institute’s commitment to AI-led learning, experiential education, innovation and technology-driven problem-solving.

Guided by the vision Learn. Build. Deploy. Innovate, the launch brought together 400+ participants, primarily students and faculty members, for an immersive learning and innovation experience.

The programme combined structured learning with the BIMTECH Innovathon 2026, allowing participants to turn knowledge into working solutions.

Participants explored:
• AI Fundamentals and the Generative AI ecosystem
• Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity
• Google Cloud resources and credits
• Live AI project development and deployment
• Real-world challenges across MedTech, FinTech, EdTech and Open Innovation

The BIMTECH Innovathon 2026 challenged participants to identify real-world problems and develop practical, scalable AI-powered solutions through experimentation, teamwork and rapid prototyping.

From personalised stock and mutual fund management to applications focused on personal health and care, participants transformed ideas into AI-powered applications, automation tools and innovative prototypes.

Students gained hands-on experience with AI, problem-solving, teamwork, mentoring, and technical execution, strengthening BIMTECH’s innovation ecosystem and connecting classroom learning with emerging technologies and industry-relevant applications.

As Dr. PRABINA RAJIB, Director, BIMTECH, emphasised:
“Ideas are only the beginning of innovation. What matters is the ability to take an idea, test it, build it and create something that can address a real problem.”

The winning Innovathon teams were recognised for their innovation, impact, technical execution, and overall quality of their solutions, with cash prizes, certificates, and opportunities to showcase their work.

The inauguration of the Centre of Excellence on AI and the BIMTECH Innovathon 2026 mark another step towards creating a future-ready academic community—one that learns from emerging technologies, experiments with new ideas and builds solutions for the real world.
