Industry Academia Meet : PGDM RETAIL

"The classroom is where the foundation is built; the industry is where the limits are pushed."

On February 20, 2026, the hallowed halls of academia meet the high-octane world of commerce. We are bringing together the brightest minds from the PGDM Retail Management (RM) program and the veterans of the retail landscape for a singular purpose: to co-author the future of retail education.

The Mission: Evolution, not just Education

The retail landscape of 2026 has been redefined by a fundamental shift in purchase behavior, where the traditional boundaries of commerce have dissolved. Today’s consumer no longer simply "buys a product," they navigate a complex Integrated Value Ecosystem that bridges the physical and digital worlds.

To keep our PGDM RM curriculum relevant, we must transition from teaching traditional shop-floor management to mastering these digital-first frontiers:

  • From Brick-and-Mortar to "Click & Quick":
We are moving beyond the stationary storefront to address the explosive rise of E-commerce and Quick Commerce. Students must now understand the mechanics of "10-minute deliveries" and the dark-store logistics that power impulse-driven, hyperlocal consumption.

  • From Single-Outlet to Omnichannel Ecosystems:
The era of the isolated retail outlet is over. Our curriculum now focuses on the Omnichannel journey, where a consumer may discover a product on social media, research it via a mobile app while standing in an aisle, and choose between home delivery or in-store pickup.

  • The "Phygital" Manager:
We are evolving our training to produce managers who can synchronize inventory and customer data across every "click" and "brick" touchpoint, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of how or where the customer chooses to shop.

The Agenda: The "Retail Reality Check"

This meet isn't just a discussion; it’s a laboratory of ideas. We will be:

  • Decoding Trends:
Analyzing the shift from "Product Attributes" to "Value-Based Consumption."

  • Audit & Adapt:
Examining our current curriculum under the lens of the industry to ensure students aren't just industry-ready, but industry-leading.

  • Syncing Syllabi:
Identifying the "Missing Links" between theoretical textbooks and the fast-paced reality of franchise management and digital retail ecosystems.

Why it Matters

Tomorrow, we aren't just discussing credits and modules; we are designing the architects of the Indian retail revolution. By integrating the industry experience with the rigors of academic research, we ensure that our PGDM RM graduates don't just enter the workforce; they transform it.

"Tomorrow, the industry speaks, and the curriculum listens."
