Alumni Meet 2017

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, Centre for Retail organized an alumni re-union on March 04, 2017 at Greater Noida campus, PROPEL’17. The Re-union took place for first five batches of the program (2002-2007) and Ex-faculty of Centre of Retail. The meet was attended by 16 alumni along with their spouses and three Ex-Faculty, Prof. B.D.Nathani, Prof. ShreshthaBhatacharya and Prof. Kartik Dave.

The meet traditionally started with a Welcome Address by the Director, Dr. Chaturvedi. He addressed the alumni of all the four Centers and praised the achievements of Alumni of BIMTECH of all programs in all spheres of life. He expressed that it was a matter of great pride for BIMTECH that its Alumni are holding positions of responsibility in various organizations. Many of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to others as well. He praised their contribution towards the growth of their Alma Mater and emphasized the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and BIMTECH and current students.

The Inaugural session was also attended by various Deans, Registrar, HODs, and faculty and staff members of BIMTECH. The President of Alumni association, ALUMNUS, Alok Gupta, welcomed the alumni and their family members in the campus and appreciated their zeal to assemble here. The Ex- Faculties and Senior Alumni were felicitated at this event.

The inaugural session was followed by Centre wise Re-union in different rooms. The evening was very special, not only did the weather stay fine, but was a good chance for friends to meet up and reminisce in an informal setting. We felt delighted to invite Akshay Jinsy, our first Batch student. Dr. Veenu Sharma welcomed all the Alumni. This was followed by Dr.Pooja Misra, Chairperson, Centre for Retail, giving direction and setting the tone for the meeting. to She drew the attention of all present towards the structure of the program including trimester-wise subjects, on-the-job training, short-term project, summer internship, placements, field visits, teaching pedagogy and evaluation criteria’s. The Alumni were subsequently requested to provide their inputs and suggestions for strengthening the Retail Program as per the requirement of the Industry. This was followed by the Alumni introducing themselves and sharing their experiences and best practices. The meet was taken care by Dr.Pooja Misra and a structured discussion was made on achieving Mission 1 of BIMTECH, ‘To be the preferred choice for students, faculty and recruiters’. Many of the current students were also present to interact with their pass out seniors and learning from their experiences. The Alumni were also requested for providing mentorship and suggestions for their juniors. Our current batch students also prepared a window display for their subject Visual Merchandising, which was well appreciated by all Alumni. In all, the ambience was electric with people seen chatting and discussing in groups.
