Industry Visit to Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey

The group had left New Delhi on 21st Feb 2017 early morning for Kochi by flight. It was a great industrial trip both from educational and recreational point of view. All the destinations (Kochi, Munnar, Allaphuza ) provided some kind of learning to all the students. On the same day, we left for the visit to Lulu Mall and meet mall's management team and Mr. Shibu Thomas who made the students understand the contrast between the North Indian and South Indian retail business. During the dinner time on same day students interacted with Dr. MP Sukuraman Nair, Chair/ Public Sector Restructuring & Audit Board,Government of Kerala. Dr. Nair provided inputs regarding disinvestment scenario of PSU.

The visit on 22nd Feb. was to Travancore Chemical Industries, where students interacted with Mr. Harikumar K. Managing Director, TCCL. Mr. Harikumar provided the opportunity to learn about how the industry is nothing but a brick and mortar business format, the supply chain and the marketing aspect. Post visit of Travancore Chemicals we all left for Munnar. On the way students enjoyed the traditional food of Kerala “Sadhya”. After lunch students also had useful insight about the spice plantation on the way to Munnar. On 23rd Feb, students had excursions to the Matupetty dam, Tea manufacturing process and Tea garden. In the evening we all enjoyed the performance of traditional Kerala Martial art, Kalaripayattu which was very mesmerizing. The students also enjoyed a bonfire in Munnar to beat the cold weather.

On 24th feb. all students left for Allaphuza and in the evening all students enjoyed the cruise and Beach of Alleppey in the evening. On 25th Feb. we returned back to Kochi and there visited, the famous St. Francis Church and Chinese fishing Net. In the evening, students enjoyed the cruise and after dinner left for Airport to catch the flight back to Delhi at 02:00a.m. The trip was overall hectic. A team of this size always has its unique challenges in terms of getting everyone to stick to the time schedules and itinerary. Learning, fun, photographs, selfies, sweet memories were the takeaway from the trip. We came back from Kochi to Delhi and then back to our Bimtech campus on 26th February 2017 morning.
