Industrial Tour to United Arab Emirates (UAE) (19-24 Feb 2018)

Around midnight of 18th Feb 2018, we 50 students of PGDM and PGDM (IB) moved towards T3 terminal for our flight to Dubai. Students were accompanied by Prof. Rajeev Sharma and Prof. Abhijeet Chattoraj.

Dubai; an emirate and a city in UAE is to a great degree exceptional for what all it conveys to the table, for instance, ultramodern outline, stacked with lively nightlife, indulgence shopping, etc. Dubai positions as the essential business focal point of the country. Dubai gave us the opportunity to dwell ourselves into pleasures like Dune Bashing, Dhow Cruise, BBQ dinners and a mesmerizing experience of Burj Khalifa. Apart from the refreshing excursions we had some enlightening sessions, the details of which are given as follows-

21st February Murdoch University The Visit took place on the third day of our tour, the Program Coordinator and lecturer Mr. Joseph D Stevens gave background of the college and its history. This was followed by a remarkable lecture from Dr. Madhavi Ayyagari on identities and perception.
21st February Jebel Ali Port A port official boarded our transport at the front entryway and afterward ceased at different focuses clarifying the vital significance of the port to UAE economy. Be that as it may, we were not ready to move out of the transport all through the port visit because of security standards issued by the port experts.
22nd February CEO & Alumni interaction It was a great pleasure for everyone to know that the alumni members are being positioned as Vice President and CEO’s in several areas such as insurance, banking, etc. The interaction was really fascinating for the faculty as well as the students; since it provided each one of us with a deeper insight about their journey from BIMTECH to such higher positions. Around 15 alumni from various fields attended the interaction.

Sharjah; is the emirate arranged on the Arabian Gulf. This particular emirate is more direct than the southern one; Dubai. This emirate is known as the social capital of the very nation. Sharjah Fort: a home (great) is similarly arranged here.

22nd February Shurooq Shurooq is the “Invest in Sharjah” Program, where we got to know the various arenas that they worked in and we as students got to learn about various future prospects for us. Sharjah has the infrastructure, facilities, economic and political stability to ensure the businesses do well along with the society benefitting from the same.

Ras-al-Khaimah; is the northernmost emirate in UAE. This particular emirate is known for its shorelines. The national authentic focal point of the emirate indicates common history. Furthermore, it has a broad mosque; the name of which is Mohammed Canister Salem which reflects the tradition.

Ras-al-khaimah provided us with major learning opportunities, which are explained in the table below.

20th February Star Cement Star cement has emerged as a premium cement manufacturer in the Indian Ocean Rim and Persian Gulf. It has an ultramodern Clinkerization unit in Ras-al-Khaimah and sublime quality limestone mines in Fujairah. The entire visit was a great learning experience for all the students. It gave an insight about how a cement plant works keeping in mind various quality measures like six-sigma, Kaizen.
20th February Ashok Leyland The HR department head welcomed the group and the entire batch divided into four groups with the designated officials to guide them through the plant. Students were given insights about how each process is carried out at every stage and all queries were answered. At the end, there was company presentation by HR Head along with vote of thanks.

Abu Dhabi; the capital of UAE. This emirate bases enthusiastically on fare and trade of oil and the same is included by skyline’s towers among others. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is moreover arranged here which can suit around 41,000 admirers. Moreover, this is the second most swarmed city in UAE.

22nd February Abu Dhabi University We visited Abu Dhabi University on the fourth day of our Industrial tour. Abu Dhabi University provides 90% employability within a year of graduation and gives career focused programs to the students. It has globally recognized and respected degree programs. Trip to Abu Dhabi University was an enriching experience for us. We came to know the scope of digital marketing and how it is impacting the advertising industry in UAE.
23rd February Ferrari World Our trip to Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi on the last day was one of the most adventurous excursions of our lives. We rode the world’s tallest rollercoaster track along with the world’s fastest rollercoaster track at 240km/hr.
23rd February Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is also located here which can accommodate around 41,000 worshipers. The visit to the mosque implanted within us peace and calm.

To tie the whole experience in one knot, the UAE tour began with bang of dune bashing to first hand company experiences to ending the tour with the memories of Ferrari world and the grand mosque. We had it all.
