OMNIGLOTZZZ 2.0 is held at BIMTECH

Cultures are what make countries unique and being a student of PGDM- International Business; it is pertinent to understand the nuances of cultures of different countries in the world. Learning a Foreign Language is also an integral part of the curriculum, hence, it was time when students had to display their knowledge of these foreign languages through various activities.

In lieu of the above, “OMNIGLOTZZZ 2.0 – Enhancing Cross Cultural flavours of France and Germany and other Emerging Countries” second edition of PGDM-IB flagship event was organised on December 10, 2019 which was an amalgamation of cultures. Students demonstrated different aspects of German and French Cultures as well as of other Emerging Countries through various activities.

This was an experiential learning co-curricular competition which provided students a platform to develop deeper understanding about the different culture beliefs, food preferences, way of living and language.

The event started with welcome of all Jury members which included:

Dr. Rita Malhotra, President of Poetry across Cultures

Ms. Aradhana Pradhan, Director, Masi Inc.

Mr. Soma Sundaram, Teacher, Alliance Francaise

Dr. Anupam Varma, Dy. Director gave the welcome address and it started the first half of the event with activities from students learning French Language. Various activities were conducted by different groups of students like – French song sung by students, a play was conducted, poems were being narrated and Role plays done. It was as if students were living the life of the part they were playing.

The second half included a presentation on “Doing Business with emerging countries” and event covered by German students wherein the students presented phenomenal performance on various events like ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, enactment of movie scene in German Language, Role plays, presentations and Poem narrations.

In “Doing Business Project”, there were different countries assigned to groups of students and each of them had to prepare and present newsletters and videos of their countries business with emerging economies. It was very insightful and imparted knowledge of the economy and culture. This was mentored by Dr. Anuj Sharma and Prof. Saloni Sinha.

IB Class was decorated beautifully with flags, balloons and cut-outs, keeping in mind the cross cultural theme and all of it was done by our students. It was the continuous effort of all students and Mentors: Prof. Mamta Kathuria, Prof. Sanjay Sharma and Ms. Rupali Singh without whom this event would not have taken its shape.

The event went smooth and flawless and it was one of the best opportunities for the students to not only exhibit their skills and strengthen their knowledge but also to get insights from the learned Jury. The jury gave insights about their journey and how one can achieve and enhance cross cultural knowledge.
