Overview

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management has demonstrated its excellence in fulfilling its objectives to the Business and Social community in education, research and consultancy, in all the functional areas of management. The Business Management Programme strives to train students to be capable executives equipped with the skills and knowledge of management and also nurture them to be good human beings.

The programme helps students to acquire not only new skills, techniques and knowledge on key business areas, such as, Strategic Management, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Business Ethics and HR, but also to integrate and inter-link these concepts to an enterprise level.


Admission

BIMTECH offers admissions to its two year full time PGDM program and other sectoral programs namely, PGDM (International Business), PGDM (Retail Management) & PGDM (Insurance Business Management) and Two Doctoral Level Programmes – FPM (Fellow Programme in Management) & EFPM (Executive Fellow Programme in Management), PGDM at its Bhubaneswar campus for the 2018-20 batch.

*Important Note

Candidates applying under DA Category/Other Category (Corporate Sponsored/NRI/NRI Sponsored/International Students) will be required to produce documents listed under eligibility conditions at the time of submission of first installement of tuition fee failing which their application may be rejected/considered under General Category. These applicants will then be required to meet eligibility conditions of the General Category.

Program Framework

PGDM full time two-year programme offered by the centre are designed on the principles that create proper balance of theory and practice needed to aid managerial skill formation for effective decision-making and problem solving in a globalised environment. The class room interaction is a combination of lecture and case based methods emphasizing on self-leaning. The programme is divided in to six trimesters. During the first two trimesters, the students are provided extensive teaching in a number of core courses. From third trimester onwards till six trimesters, the students are required to complete core as well as elective courses. Students pursue their special interests in-depth through a specialization offered by the programme. During April through June, students are required to undertake a Summer Internship Project (SIP).During the six trimesters, besides three core courses, students are required to submit winter dissertation under the supervision of a mentor. During the two-year programme, 1250 hours of class room teaching is provided along with extra and co-curriculum activities that are parts of the programme.

Apart from above, students enrolled in the programme are part of the student bodies drawn from all other programmes of the institute. The student conduit comprises of members from six committees i.e. Discipline Committee, Mess Committee, Newsletter Committee, Media Committee, Cultural Committee and Sports Committee. These conduits not only apprise students of latest developments in their respective fields but also engage them in organizing various activities.

COURSE DESIGN

The programme design, the curriculum structure is expediently planned and drafted trimester-wise and reflects vision & mission of the institute. Further, it also consists of all important areas of specialization that will be available to the students during the full course of this programme. This is to train high caliber professionals who devote themselves to effective management of an organization by achieving excellence with values. The main goal of the PGDM programme is to provide learning environment to students and working executives to become leaders and entrepreneurs in the face of global competition. The maximum number of applicants admitted to this programme is currently 240. The programme enables the participants to understand current business challenges and prepares them with the aid of updated technologies and advanced pedagogy to successfully face global business demand.

Pedagogy

Learning starts with the Foundation Programme in order to bring all students who have joined the programme are at par in terms of knowledge in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Principles & Practices of Management and Basic operational understanding of Power Point and Excel.Keeping learning objectives of the course in mind, detailed course plan is designed so as ensure adequate academic rigour. The learning rigour, besides lecture mode, is brought in to a particular course through methods. Adoption of a method depends on the requirement of the course

PGDM Programme Structure:

Academic, experiential and transformational learning environment of two-year full time programme is provided through 6-trimester system with six to eight weeks internship project at the end of the first year followed by a viva. The structure is designed to provide choice to select specialisation in the discipline of marketing, finance, human resources and operations.

Under the ’Thought Leadership Series’, eminent guest speakers from different domain space are invited to share their experiences with the students. The programme offers the great learning experience of students’ participation in conferences, seminar, summits & workshops.

In order to assess the knowledge & skill of each student “Comprehensive Viva-Voce’ (CVV) is conducted at the end of I & II trimesters just before the examinations.

The above programme structure has been designed to meet the academic rigour and industry needs. It may be modified depending up on the reviews and suggestions given by the Academic Council based on the industry requirements.
