Himani Pokhriyal

Biosketch

Ms. Himani Pokhriyal is currently serving as a Research Scholar in the Department of Applied Mathematics at Delhi Technological University (DTU), New Delhi. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi and is pursuing her Ph.D. at DTU, specializing in the application of mathematical optimization techniques in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for social media mining. Her doctoral research integrates advanced statistical distributions, entropy measures, and optimization algorithms for sentiment and sarcasm detection.

Ms. Pokhriyal has taught several undergraduate theory and lab-based courses, including Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems, and Artificial Intelligence Algorithms at DTU.

Her research has been published in reputed SCIE-indexed journals such as Neurocomputing, ACM Transactions on Asian and Low-Resource Language Information Processing, and in conferences by IEEE and IGI Global. She has been actively involved in reviewing manuscripts for international journals like Neurocomputing, Knowledge-Based Systems, and Computers & Electrical Engineering.

She has participated in various FDPs and workshops organized by ISRO, JNU, and the University of Delhi. Ms. Pokhriyal is a recipient of the DTU Research Fellowship (2021–2025), a GATE Mathematics qualifier, and has been selected for multiple competitive rounds in ISRO and SSB (Air Force and Navy).

Her core interests lie in Natural Language Processing, sarcasm detection, optimization techniques, database systems, and applied mathematics. She continues to pursue interdisciplinary research aimed at building intelligent, human-centered AI systems that enhance social media understanding and digital interaction.
