Course Overview

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) was the pioneer in introducing the Post Graduate Professional Course in Retail in India in the year 2002 to supply quality managers, capable of shouldering responsibilities in a highly competitive retail marketing environment. The mission is to transform the students’ future by creating opportunities for them. The program is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE, Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Government of India) and is also accredited by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for equivalence with an MBA. It is a 2 year full-time residential course which provides in-depth knowledge for not just all aspects related to retail marketing, but also gives exposure to core management areas such as Marketing Management, Financial Accounting, Organizational Behaviour, Quantitative Management and Economics.

Eligibility Criteria For PGDM

The eligibility criteria for getting admission into an AICTE approved institution is common for all postgraduate courses. Some of the conditions that a student must fulfil are given as follows:

45-50%

marks
in graduation from a UGC-recognized university is the minimum eligibility requirement for students applying under the unreserved category for admission. Meeting this criterion ensures a strong academic foundation for pursuing the PGDM program.
The students have appeared for the entrance exams, such as CAT, MAT, GMAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, or any other based on the institution’s requirement, and their score should fall within the cutoff bracket.

Salient Features

  • The Retail Management Program has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and also has an MBA equivalence from Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Strategic tie up with Retail Association of India( RAI), Mumbai.
  • On the Job Training : The objective of OJT is to enhance student-industry interaction so that students can acquire the experience of a Retail store, which will bridge the gap between academic learning and field learning. This will also help students gain knowledge and experience in the functioning of a Retail Store in real-time. It is a four (4) credit course where the training of students is initiated through tie-ups between the institute/program and various retail organizations.
  • Industrial Visit: Visits to various industries are arranged to enable the students have first-hand knowledge of the procedures and formalities in the industries. An integral part of PGDM (RM) is the industry interactions and experts visits that are regularly organized throughout the course duration.
  • The institute started this program tailored to the needs of the burgeoning Retail Industry in 2004.
  • It is an initiative to create a new generation of smart retail professionals of international caliber.
